Ok – today is the day – DODENTOCHT!!

Completely excited to walk my feet off for no other reason that I like walking and I don’t think I could run 20k so a 100k walk here I come!!
Theoretically I have been training once or twice a week with friends walking around Brussels to develop stamina for the 24 hours walk but in combination with a new job and meeting an intense number of people in the last 2 months, things have not gone to plan!

So today will be quietly working in a corner, having pushed all meetings to earlier this week or for next week so today is my minimal movement day. Consequently I spent last night watching the shooting stars and completely relaxing. I imagine my Sunday will be remarkably similar.

Packing my rucksack to last me 24 hours with the essentials is absolutely key!
Bananas
Water
Socks
Snacks,
Ipod and lipbalm

My track number is 4495 and to follow me you should type on the Dodentocht site and send me messages to keep me going via my twitter!!

Before and After pictures to follow 🙂

Wish me luck!

map reading is not a skill of mine!

{July 5, 2010}   New day new job! :)

Sorry for the 5 month hiatus but suffice to say – service of random updates is now resumed!

So today is an important day for me 🙂 I begin a new job! Obviously there are a series of important questions that need to be addressed immediately!

What do I wear?
Shall I have my hair straight or curly?
Shall I take a pack lunch or just wing it and see if anyone will like me enough to show me around?

Ermmmm yep clothes, hair and food – all the key areas covered?

Ahh I forgot…

What shoes should I wear?

Yep now all the questions are covered.

So while straightening my hair, I go over the questions and all I can say is that I went a little crazy this morning and now look like this.

Hmm shoes in my lunchbox, my hair looks perfect and some lettuce for my feet to match my cucumber bracelet…. Err wait WHAT? OMG my hair! Arghhh

{January 11, 2010}   Flat hunting part 2

This gripping story of my flat hunt continues!

A flat share has been found in a cool location in Brussels and as a result I need to go and find some of stuff that currently lies in a container (from my previous flat while I couchsurf) and will lie there until I find something more permanent for all my belongings to live!
I went to find my duvet and some of my extra shoes. (they are too pretty to be left in a container with no one to watch!)

This is what I faced 🙂

{October 4, 2009}   A relatively unplanned weekend

I am generally quite a lazy person, and this weekend is one of the last few weekends I’ll have before my social agenda picks up again (I’m social butterfly don’t you know!) So a nice relaxing weekend was in order. However, that was not the way it turned out. This weekend has turned to be an exercise related weekend.

After being socially bullied by a bff (princess misia) I ended up signing up for a yoga class with BGGD. BGGD is a bunch of girly geeks who meet up for random events every few weeks, organised by Clo Willaerts. To be honest, yoga really isn’t my thing and with the size of my mouth and the speed at which I use it, saying ‘Om’ once awhile isn’t enough for me. However, I decided to give it a go, as I like to try new things. However tiring the event was, the delightful people from Vitamin Water were on hand to give out refreshing drinks that reminded me of the orange and lemon squash I was given as a child at primary school.

The weekend continued with a mini-marathon taking place outside my apartment so the roads were shut. Now, I don’t know about you, but as the self-titled laziest person in Montgomery, I feel it is exhausting to watch people running twice through my area. These are people who have trained months and months beforehand. They lead a normal social life (spent the previous evening with some of them) and they eat normally YET they are able to move their asses into gear and actually build the stamina to run. Hats off to these people!

I have more to say about exercise but it is Sunday today and watching the mini-marathon runners is giving me a headache, so more later…
